Pheasant Tears winery is located in Sighnaghi “town of love” and produces artisanal wines fermented in Qvevri, according to ancient Georgian traditions. The winery was founded in 2007 by John Wurdeman and Gela Patalishvili. The name ‘pheasant’s tears’ is connected to a Georgian tale in which only the very best wines are good enough to make a pheasant cry of joy.
Slightly different techniques are used to make each of the wines. Some have moderate skin contact, others have minimal (from 3 weeks to 6 months)
