Didgori Battle Memorial
The Didgori Battle Memorial honors the pivotal Battle of Didgori in 1121, a significant event in the Georgian-Seljuk conflicts. Led by David IV, the armies of the Kingdom of Georgia triumphed over a large Muslim force commanded by Artuqid ruler Ilghazi. Despite being vastly outnumbered, the Georgian victory was deemed "miraculous" by historians.
Located in the Trialeti mountains, about 60 kilometers from Tbilisi, the memorial, surrounded by swords, stands proudly on a hill in an open expanse. Every 12th of August, people gather at this site to commemorate "Didgoroba," celebrating the historic event and its enduring significance.
