Argo Cable Car Batumi
When you are walking in Batumi, don’t miss the unique opportunity to experience stellar panoramic views of the Black Sea, surrounding rugged mountains and the entire city. There is a cable car on Gogebashvili street nearby Batumi Port towards Anuria Mountain. The length of the cableway is 2,586 m and it is reaching an ultimate elevation of 256 meters. The cable car is an urban cable way connecting the town with a highland-Cultural Entertainment Complex "Argo". It takes approximately 15 minutes for Doppelmayr cable way system 20 gondolas, each capable of seating eight passengers, to cover one-way trip for 15 GEL.
Projecting works of the first cable car in Batumi were initiated in 2008.
The building design has historical significance and is enriched by the sailing symbols of Argo - the ship on which Greek mythical characters Jason and the Argonauts sailed from Iolcos to Colchis, to retrieve the Golden Fleece.
