The Batumi aquarium
Opened on August 20, 1966, Batumi's demonstrative aquarium showcased North Pacific pinnipeds, fur otters, and Caspian seals. Its standout was a 100kg "false coach" giant tortoise. The aquarium, with a capacity of 200,000 liters, features 60 species from various waters. Local breeding sustains most species, vital for reproducing outside their natural habitats. The collection boasts 100 fish species, including exotic ones like Amazon Piranhas and Discus. Initially under the Georgian branch of the "Sea Fish Husbandry and Scientific Research Institute of Oceanography," it later became part of Batumi's "6 May Park" in 1998 and joined the "Black Sea Flora and Fauna Scientific Research Center" on January 1, 2011.
Exciting new interactive show in Batumi Dolphinarium
The Batumi Dolphinarium presents its guests with an exciting new interactive show featuring 10 dolphins and approximately 30 acts. These acts include three dances, playing with rings and balls, balancing on tails, the unforgettable Foot Push, and many other stunning moments, both new and classic. Additionally, a surprise awaits the guests - the most active ones will have the opportunity to try themselves as dolphin trainers for 15 minutes.
The dolphin demonstration program combines educational elements with a captivating show, and it is conducted in all weather conditions. The dolphinarium's ability to leave spectators full of positive emotions is thanks to Nini & Monica, Maya, Marco & Zorro, 2 Baby dolphins - Chibu & Khvicha, and Tsitsi with her babies Olympia & Batu.
Established in 1975, the Batumi Dolphinarium is a marine animal park offering daily dolphin shows, swim-with-dolphin experiences, and a small aquarium. It was the first dolphinarium in the former Soviet Union and quickly became a symbol of the city. Visitors can enjoy performances by Bottlenose dolphins and California Sea Lions.
Shows are presented in both Georgian and English, with three performances held daily during the summer season at 14:00, 17:00, and 21:00. The dolphinarium warmly welcomes disabled individuals.
The Batumi Dolphinarium is located at 6 May Park, 51 Rustaveli Ave, Batumi, with the cash desk situated at the administrator's office.
