Dashbashi Canyon
Dashbashi Natural Monument is located in Tsalka Municipality, between historical and geographic provinces of Trialeti and Kvemo Kartli, 1,100-1,500 meters above sea level.
With its length of 8 km and height of several hundred meters, the canyon is distinguished by a natural diversity and impressive sceneries.
The vegetation cover of the surrounding ecosystem is rather poor, however lush green plants on the steep slopes inside the canyon, majestic cliffs, fervent waterfalls, and underground waters create an absolutely stunning micro-landscape with specific fauna, characteristic micro-climate, etc.
River Khrami gorge is a natural habitat and reproduction venue for several types of landscapes: leafy (hornbeam, beech, mixed hornbeam, and oak) forests and high-mountain steppes, second-hand meadows, and bush forests, xerophytic plants and derivatives, alluvial fans, and plateaus. The gorge is an important geological corridor, by means of which many wildlife species of eastern and southern Georgia communicate with each other.
The major attraction of the canyon is the “weeping wall” -a cascade of small waterfalls along the rocks.
On the edge of the canyon, in the village Dashbashi, there are two medieval temples. Even though they are half-ruined, the temples are still considered important sights, as part of the culture of the nation.
Dashbashi Canyon is best for scientific and educational tourism, on the slopes of which one can vividly see the history of geological development of the region.
