Anaklia Black Sea resort
Anaklia, a burgeoning seaside resort nestled 3 meters above sea level, just 30 kilometers from Zugdidi in Samegrelo, is where the captivating River Enguri meets the Black Sea. This locale has swiftly gained popularity among tourists over the past few years.
Stretching approximately 8 kilometers along the coast, Anaklia boasts a serene resort promenade spanning over 1 kilometer, dotted with comfortable hotels. Unlike the shores of Batumi and Kobuleti, Anaklia's beaches are sandy and pristine. The small settlement maintains a clean environment, offering visitors crystal-clear waters to enjoy.
The highlight of Anaklia is the longest pedestrian bridge in Europe, spanning an impressive 552 meters over the River Enguri, linking the resort to neighboring villages like Ganmukhuri.
Ganmukhuri holds significant cultural weight, having hosted the Kazantip electronic music festival in 2014, evolving into the GEM fest (Georgian Electronic Music Festival) since 2015. This multi-day festival has been a major draw for the younger crowd, contributing to Anaklia's surge in popularity.
Additionally, Ganmukhuri is home to Georgia's largest aqua park, adding another layer of entertainment to the area.
In 2016, plans were set in motion to construct a new deep-water port in Anaklia, a project succeeding the unsuccessful Lasik initiative. The development consortium, a collaborative effort between Georgia and the United States, spearheaded this project. Commencing in December 2017, the construction saw Dutch marine contractor van Oord selected for dredging and reclamation works starting soon.
