Lower Bethlemi Church in Tbilisi

The St. Stephanoz nunnery and a small chapel were established by Armenian immigrants from Iran in the 18th century. In the 19th century, a domed church replaced the original structures, undergoing further renovations in the early 20th century. Since 1988, the church has been owned by the Georgian Orthodox Church. The building, designed in the "inscribed cross" style, stands on a brick citadel and is constructed with brown bricks. The interior features paintings by artists D. Khidasheli and M. Chakvetadze.
