The private tour Western Heritage takes to Kutaisi – one of the important cities of Georgia, which once have been the capital of united Georgian Kingdom and the residence of Bagrationy Royal Dynasty. Not long ago, it was the seat of Georgian Parliament and today it is the home of International University Campus opening the door to international students.
En route to Kutaisi, stop at the Gori town, visit the memorial house-museum of Joseph Stalin, Soviet leader-dictator of 20th c. Head to the ancient caves of Uplistsikhe, dated back to the 1st millennium BC. Enjoy the sightseeing of UNESCO World Heritage Sites at Kutaisi – Gelati Academy & Monastery, and Bagrati Cathedral. Travel to Prometheus Caves to see the natural beauty of karst caves with stalactites and stalagmites.

Morning pick-up from the hotel. We are heading to the west. First visit the house-museum of Joseph Stalin, located in town Gori. Museum exhibits Stalin’s house – a wooden hut, study room from Kremlin, and various manuscripts, paintings, gifts and other personal belongings.
Afterwards drive to Uplistsikhe cave town. Uplistsikhe translates as “the fortress of Lord”, and is one of the oldest discovered settlements in the region. Uplistsikhe town was an important trading center linking Byzantium, India and China. Nowadays archaeological excavations uncovered several layers dating from Early Iron Age to the late middle ages.
Drive to Kutaisi passing through the Rikoti Pass. Before entering the city, visit Gelati Monastery, the 12th c site. Enjoy the frescoes and mosaic inside the cathedral and the beautiful sunset from the Gelati Academy window.
Arrive in Kutaisi, the ancient capital and third largest city of Georgia. Take a walking tour around the main square and old town streets.
Overnight in Kutaisi.
After breakfast, in the morning walk in the hotel neighborhood and visit Bagrati Cathedral, built in early 11th c. The Cathedral is located on an elevated hill, overlooking Kutaisi – the best panorama opens here.
Head to the Imereti protected areas, visit Prometheus Cave, the natural wonder, the beautiful karst caves with stalactites and stalagmites, river and lake inside. The boar trip is available inside the caves, if the river level is navigable.
Let's say goodbye to Imereti and drive back to Tbilisi.
