4-day private tour to the Great Caucasus Mountains starts in the capital of Georgia Tbilisi and includes one free day in Tbilisi, excursions in Mtskheta town and Ananuri fortress located on the right bank of Zhinvali reserve, Gudauri resort, alpine townlet Stephantsminda, Dariali canyon, Kazbegi National Park, Gergeti mountain, Jvari Pass and a beautiful journey along the Georgian Military road.
During the 4-day period you will see Greater Caucasus Mountains, waterfalls and canyons and discover the country’s unique nature.
Arrival in Tbilisi Airport. Meet and greet with your transfer agent. Drive to the hotel.

After breakfast in Tbilisi hotel, check out; drive towards the Greater Caucasus mountains.
Before you leave the city, visit the Chronicle of Georgia, often referred to as Georgia's Stonehenge. This huge bronze monument from the late Soviet period depicts a brief history of Georgia and overlooks Tbilisi Sea. The site offers a magnificent view of Tbilisi and the valley of the Mtkvari River.
Next stop today is Mtskheta – the historical capital of Iberia, the former Georgian Kingdom. Mtskheta is known for its medieval sites that are included in UNESCO World Heritage list: Svetitskhoveli Cathedral of 11th c., Samtavro church 11th c, Antiokhia nunnery 5th c and Jvari Monastery of 6th c.
After visiting Mtskheta and these monuments, follow Georgian Military Highway to the north. Drive 60 km and stop at Ananuri castle on the Zhinvali reserve. The 16-17th cc. fort consists of former residential buildings of local feudal Aragvis’ Eristavi, defensive curtains and watchtowers, churches, and bell tower. The area is picturesque. Nearby the fort on the riverside the children’s playground is located. Take a moment and swim in the fresh mountain lake.
Continue the tour and drive to the north, pass Gudauri ski-resort. Stop by Gudauri observation platform - don’t skip this nice opportunity: The elevation is 2000m above sea level.

After breakfast, leave for Kazbegi and drive through the Jvari Pass (2395 m).
Make several stops on the way to feel the spirit of mountains and breath the fresh air of alpine meadows. Visit Monument of Friendship, travertine spring and arrive to Kazbegi municipality town Stephantsminda – the administrative center of Khevi district (1700 meters above sea level).
Stephantsminda is good starting point to hike to the mount of Gergeti (2020 m approximately a 2.5-hour hike). Fantastic views are opening from here! Visit Gergeti Sameba - the Holy Trinity Church ( 14th c), observe the Kazbegi Glacier (5054 m) and Tergi river valley from the top of Gergeti mountain.

Continue the tour around Khevi, drive to the Dariali Gorge – an important crossing point of the Georgia-Russia border. In Dariali walk to visit Gveleti waterfalls, Dariali Monastery, and return to Gudauri hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Gudauri.

Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport.
