Drive about 7 km to the South and visit ruins of the medieval Royal Palace of Geguti. The importance of the palace is emphasized by its largely secular nature as most of the surviving monuments of medieval Georgian architecture are churches and monasteries. The Palace occupies approximately 2000 m² territory. The earliest layers date back to the 8-9th c.c. the main building belongs to 12th c-the period of the reign of King Tamar. This was the place where her former husband, Prince Yuri Rusi (Bogolyubsky), was crowned by the rebellious nobles during an abortive coup against the queen in 1191.

Drive to the small town Vani. Here, you will discover ancient ruins and fragments through the whole town. There were numerous archaeological artifacts found during the excavations, which are proof of cultural development of the site from the 6th c. B.C. up to 1 c. B.C. The exhibits are displayed at Vani Archeological Museum.

Time to have a lunch. Vartsikhe Winery will serve homemade traditional dishes and qvevri wine.

After the lunch return back to Kutaisi.
