Itinerary


Day to day

Morning pick-up from the hotel and departure from Tbilisi to the eastern province of GeorgiaKakheti. We drive to David Gareja semi-desert, partially through ground roads. Have excursions in David Gareja caves and monastery of Lavra, founded in the 6th c. by one of the Assyrian fathers who arrived in Georgia in order to spread Orthodox (Eastern) Christianity.

After visiting the first site, drive to Bodbe – beautiful nunnery located near town Signagi. Bodbe Monastery built in the 9th c. was significantly renovated in 17th c. Nowadays, the monastery is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia. The relics of the female evangelist St. Nino are rested in Bodbe.

Afterward, visit Signagi – often referred to as the “City of Love”. The town is located on the hills of the Gombori Mountains, at the heart of the Kakheti region, overlooking the valley of river Alazani. The 18th c. defensive curtain walls surround the town. Enjoy the beautiful views over the Alazani River valley and the Great Caucasus Mountains.

Dinner and overnight in Sighnaghi.

After breakfast drive to Tsinandali and visit the house-museum of Alexander Chavchavadze (Georgian poet and nobleman). The Museum has 19th c beautifully decorated garden around. Here, Chavchavadze's family entertained guests with music, and finest wines made at Tsinandali winery. Excursion in the museum and taste a glass of Tsinandali cellar wine will take about 30 minutes.

Drive to Telavi – administrative center of Kakheti and an old royal town. BatOnistsikhe - the palace of Great King Erekle II is located on the main square. Visit the palace and continue to the remains of another old capital of Kakheti Kingdom– Gremi, dating back to the 16th-17th cc. The beautifully painted Church of the Archangels and the royal citadel are the main landmarks in this medieval town.

Afterward, head to the Twin’s Wine Cellar and Museum in Napareuli. Take an excursion to the local wine museum, which presents wine fermenting process.

Have lunch at Twin’s restaurant, which offers traditional Georgian dishes. There is an optional wine tasting available for an additional fee.

From the winery continue to another important monuments nearby – Alaverdi monastery 11 th c and Ikalto academy dating back to the 6th century.

On the way back to Tbilisi pay a visit to Shuamta monastery hidden in the forest.
Evening arrival in Tbilisi.

If Tourist cancels the booked tour for some reasons not depending on Tour Operator, the following sums are kept back as a fine:

  • 50% of the total cost of tourist product in case of tour cancellation 5 days or less prior to the tour;
  • 100% of the total cost of the tourist product due to the Tourist's failure to appear.
