Pick-up from the hotel we first head to the Batumi Archaeological Museum that represents a large two-story hall, which houses a huge collection of artifacts belonging to different periods, from the Bronze Age until the medieval times. One can find various artifacts from the whole territory of Adjara: coins, earthenware, glassware, gold and bronze plates of different historical periods, Roman statues, hammered cons, crosses, relief images of St. George from ancient orthodox temples, Greek rings-signets with the images of Hermes, Aphrodite and Eros, manufactured in the best workshops of Greece, etc.
The next highlight of the tour is Green Cape – Batumi Botanical Garden located near Chakvi, at the distance of 9 km from the center of Batumi city. This unique garden occupies the area of 111 ha of Southern-Western coastline section between the river Chakvistskali and the Green Cape, being spread to the height of 0-220 meters from the sea level. Park is covered with Colchic forests (beech, chestnut, linden) and evergreen sub-forest. Visitors can go through the botanical garden on foot, or by the electric vehicle, which can be rented near the entrances.
The next site to visit is ancient Petra Fortress located in the village of Tsikhisdziri. The complex is situated on a hill from where the beautiful view over the sea and Kobuleti beach is open for the visitors. The fort held an important strategic position at the crossroads of the route linking Georgia with Asia. Nowadays, the complex integrates the ruins of the fortress of 200 m in length/100 m in width citadel, located on two neighboring rocky seaside hills, a large 6th-century three-nave basilica, also remains of an urban settlement: a bath, water cistern, several other structures, as well as more than 300 burials of Late Bronze Age, Hellenistic, Roman, and medieval periods.
From Tsikhisdziri, continue the trip to village Natanebi (Shekvetili) and visit the Miniature Park. This extraordinary museum presents 54 unique architectural miniatures made on 1.25 scale of Georgian monuments and landscapes.
After visiting the museum, drive back to Batumi.
