Morning pick-up from the hotel. Drive to David Gareji desert located in Kakheti, East Georgian province. Turning from the Eastern main road, for last 30 km, we will drive on ground roads in semi desert. The classic short walk takes you through an abundance of sandstone colors, extraordinary medieval frescoes, birdlife and semi-desert wildlife, the picturesque landscape and rock carved-out water channels near the entrance of the monks’ residence.
Picnic lunch nearby the Lavra Monastery from the 6th c and Udabno caves.
After picnic drive to Bodbe monastery (2 km from Signaghi) - the monastery is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrine there.
Continue to town Signagi - an old trading town located on the hills of Gombori range and surrounded with medieval curtain walls. Cobbled streets and terracotta tile-roofed houses with colorful carved balconies and panoramic views of the Alazani Valley give it a very charming character.
In the evening return back to Tbilisi.
