Morning pick-up from Kutaisi hotel.
Drive to Tskhaltubo balneological resort-town of the Imereti region, located in 15 km from Kutaisi. Visit the young household descendant of famous Georgian writer Otia Ioseliani at ‘’Otia`s Ezo’’. The area combines the house-museum of the writer, winery, and a house yard. The couple runs the family and offers the visitors authentic wine, local cuisine, etc. Have wine tasting of three types of Imeretian wines at the ''Ioseliani family''.
From there, continue the tour to ‘’Chateau Chikovani‘’, in the village Gordi, Khoni province. Chikovani complex integrates a hotel, restaurant, wine cellar, and yard. The wine tour starts from Chikovani wine yard, where black sea coastal zone grape variety Chkhaveri is cultivated. It continues to wine cellar designed in Imeretian style, submerged churi – a local traditional clay jar used for wine fermentation and aging. Many other pieces of equipment (e.g. orshimo – a pumpkin scoop that is used to take the wine out of the qvevri vessel) in traditional Georgian winemaking can be found in the cellar. Excursion in the Chateau finishes with wine tasting and lunch.
Drive back to Kutaisi and visit the wine gallery ‘’Satsnakheli’’, which means a foot stumping wine press in Georgian. The wine bar is impressive with traditional Georgian interior and a wide selection of exclusive, distinctive wines from different regions of the country. Have a degustation of 4 assorts of wine and get detailed information about Imeretian wine characteristics (color, aromas, etc) by a sommelier.
