Mestia Town

Mestia, nestled in Georgia's upper Svaneti region, is a historic mountain town at 1500 meters above sea level, adorned with Svan defensive towers and surrounded by the Great Caucasus Mountains. Known for its rich heritage and stunning landscapes, Mestia boasts nearly 200 glaciers, including Shkhara, Georgia's highest peak at 5201 meters.

Ushguli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, sits within Mestia's district, offering the breathtaking Lamaria church, dating back to the 10th century, with a remarkable view of Shkara glacier.

With the opening of Queen Tamar Airport in 2010, Mestia has become a popular destination. Besides well-known ski resorts like Gudauri and Bakuriani, Hatsvali and Tetnuldi provide enchanting skiing experiences in Svaneti, even offering post-season views from the cable car.
